Are you planning to visit Toronto and asked yourself the question, “Is the Toronto CityPASS worth it”? In my opinion, the package is an excellent way to explore Canada’s premier tourist destination. If you’re visiting Toronto for a handful of days, there is a high probability you’ll end up visiting most of the attractions provided with the pass. Of the five activities, I classify four as “can’t miss”. For the remaining of this article, I will do the math to see if you’ll end up saving money with CityPASS versus buying tickets individually.
CN Tower
Casa Loma
Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)
Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
Toronto Zoo or Ontario Science Centre
The Math
***All calcuations are made in CAD
Standard Attractions
CN Tower – $36.00 (General Admission)
Casa Loma – $25.00
Royal Ontario Museum – $20.00
Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada – $33.00
Pick One of the Following
Toronto Zoo – $29.00
Ontario Science Centre – $22.00
I can imagine three common scenarios with the current CityPASS lineup. First of all, visiting the standard attractions alone will be popular for tourists with minimal time. In addition, a high level of difficulty associated with reaching the Toronto Zoo and Ontario Science Centre via public transportation can deter people without a rental car. To make things easy, we’ll call this scenario “The Main Attractions”. Alternatively, the last two possibilities will be named “Zoo” and “Science”.
- The Main Attractions: $114 – $76 = $36 or 33%
- Zoo: $143 – $76 = $67 or 47%
- Science: $136 – $76 = $60 or 44%
All in all, you’re going to save a lot of money with each scenario! Besides the cash, there is also the added benefit of skipping lines which can be quite long during summertime. It’s a no-brainer. If you’re visiting Toronto, purchasing a CityPASS is a must!
